To provide equal opportunities for all judokas to train, travel, and compete.
Sensei Yahya (John) Houssni began his judo journey at the age of 7 and has dedicated over four decades to the sport. A former Moroccan National Team member and internationally certified coach, he has competed, coached, and mentored at the highest levels. Judo has always been a part of the Houssni family, and they have been deeply involved in the judo community for many years.
As Sensei John established various dojos, it became clear that there was a need to provide greater support for athletes within the community. In 2024, his wife, Tracy Houssni, founded the Charitable Shogun Foundation to help fill that need.
Their goal is to support judokas who require financial assistance to regularly practice and to help qualified athletes cover travel expenses for competitions. By doing so, they aim to make judo accessible to everyone—regardless of economic background.
Vision: To provide equal opportunities for all judokas to train, travel, compete, and enjoy all that judo has to offer.
Our Mission
The Charitable Shogun Foundation is dedicated to making the art and discipline of judo accessible to all, regardless of economic circumstance. We work to eliminate financial barriers by providing support for education, equipment, and competition, with a focus on underserved youth and school-based programs.
We are equally committed to funding opportunities for all judokas for training and competition, both nationally and internationally, and helping them reach their full potential on and off the mat. Through our work, we aim to cultivate personal growth, community engagement, forever friends, and a lifelong love for judo.
By removing economic barriers, we open the door for more athletes to discover the many benefits of judo—building confidence, fostering discipline, and developing leadership skills. Our support not only enables judokas to pursue excellence in their sport but also empowers them to become positive role models, contributing to stronger, healthier communities.
